I am a physiotherapist by background, a previous NIHR/HEE Integrated Clinical Academic Clinical Lectureship holder (2016-2020) and an International Stroke Recovery and Rehabilitation Alliance Emerging Leader. After working for 10 years clinically, I have spent the past 13 years undertaking clinical research in stroke rehabilitation. My PhD explored the metabolic impacts of exercise after stroke and led to the development and testing of a behavior change physical activity intervention for stroke survivors during my Clinical Lectureship. Alongside this work, I was awarded and successfully completed a Stroke Association project grant investigating auditory rhythmical cueing to improve walking after stroke. I am currently on the European Stroke Organisation Motor Rehabilitation Guidelines Group, represent the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology (ACPIN) on the UK Stroke Forum Scientific Steering Group, and am on international advisory groups for the measurement of physical activity, mobility, and balance after stroke.
